Mustang Stadium to Campus Way
This section is outside the City Limits and is being managed by Cal Poly Staff. The portion is scheduled for construction later this summer and has an estimated construction cost of $265,000.

Campus Way to Foothill Blvd
The portion within the City Limits is currently about 80% through design. With an estimated construction cost of $300,000, some of the funds are coming from fundraising efforts and include a $50,000 donation from the Rotary Club. Challenges associated with this stretch include some needed intersection modifications to the Foothill/California intersection and related modifications which are needed to the controlled railroad crossing of Foothill. Construction is expected to occur in Spring of 2009.

Foothill Blvd to the 101 Freeway
A construction contract has been awarded to R Burke Corporation for the construction of this stretch. This phase has an estimated construction cost of $607,000, and includes a state grant of $540,000. The southern portion of this phase is on property owned by Union Pacific Railroad, and negotiations are currently underway with the railroad in an attempt to finalize a License Agreement which will allow us to build the pathway on their property. Construction is expected to be completed by early 2009, pending the outcome of the Union Pacific negotiations.

Note: All of the remaining phases below are to be located on Union Pacific Property. The construction of these phases is dependent upon a successful negotiation for a License Agreement.

101 Freeway Crossing
Estimated cost of $1,500,000 for a bridge crossing the 101 freeway (parallel to the existing railroad bridge). A design contract has been awarded to Quincy
Engineering. Design is expected to be completed sometime in 2009, and construction scheduled for late 2009 or early 2010.

101 Freeway to Marsh Street
No estimate, budget, or schedule has been established for this stretch.

Marsh Street to Amtrak Station
A design contract of $200,000 is currently being awarded to Wallace Group. Construction has not yet been funded or scheduled.

a. Status of Bike Lane Projects

i. Route 101/Vineyard Drive – The project will widen and improve Vineyard Drive
between Ashton and Main Street to provide center turn lanes as well as bike lanes
and pedestrian facilities. Construction has begun.

ii. Price Canyon Road –The project will construct the first ¾ mile section west of
Route 227 and focuses on widening the bridges. Construction is planned in late
2008 pending Right-of-Way Acquisition and Utility Coordination.

iii. Halcyon Road/Route 1 – Phase 1A of the project is under construction. Phase 1A
will widen and overlay Halcyon Road south of SR 1 including widened
shoulders.

iv. Thompson and Division Bike Lanes – Thompson Ave bike lanes have been
striped from Tefft Street to Nipomo High school. Division will be striped from
Tefft to Orchard this summer; the road widening was previously completed.

b. Status of Trail Projects

i. Bob Jones Trail (SLO to Avila)– Preliminary engineering was completed in
late January 2008 by Questa Engineering. Currently the Morro Group (now
SWCA) is completing the NEPA/CEQA studies. The NEPA/CEQA studies are
will determine if the project will require an EIR or a negative declaration. There
is still a ways to go on this one.

ii. Bob Jones Trail (San Miguel to First)– Parks hired Firma to complete the
construction drawings in January 2008 and are waiting for necessary surveys for
the new trail right-of-way. Once the survey is complete, the County can go
forward to accept the public trail easement and complete construction drawings.
Completion is estimated in early 2009. Parks and Public Works are working
together coordinating the trail crossing/signal project.

iii. Cambria Cross Town Trail – Currently under construction. Staff has contact
the project manager and will provide estimated completion when know.
